A spider woman with six legs and two chelae who sprays venom is, of course, evil. That's what everyone assumes.
However, Ariadne was not born this way.
When she picked up that pitch-black magic book with a single strange eye printed on its cover, she originally assumed it was the mercy of the gods that had provided an opportunity for her--a poor girl without the qualifications to join the magic society.
The nightmare began the day she opened up that book for the first time.
She racked her brains and struggled to study the incantations in the book. When she found something she didn't understand, she didn't dare to ask anyone else because she knew that they would confiscate her book -- a girl from the slums trying to learn magic? What a wishful thinking! Her diligence was answered with a sudden curse -- she became a monster.
A rising black mist continued to swell up. Her painful body gradually went numb. Before too long, she would completely lose consciousness.
Perhaps she would stay on the cliff and became an air-dried corpse. Perhaps she would fall into the abyss. At any rate, as far as she was concerned, there was no difference.
She closed her eyes but could not block the horrors, curses, and punishments in her memory. They came from relatives, friends, and strangers from the past.
She had escaped all the way north, not finding a single place to shelter herself. She once found a small nest, but before three days had passed, the nearby villages brought hordes of knights and mages to attack her, even though she had not disturbed anyone.
However, to kill a spider woman is natural justice. She could picture them cutting off her head and slicing up her body, triumphantly carrying it back to their village to hang on a tree. They would then plunge into their pubs while loudly calling for ale and boasting.
Dying on an icy cliff is still better than dying at the hands of those hypocritical villains. This was the best ending for her life. Just like this, just like this...
Immersed in her thoughts, Ariadne didn't even notice a dark shadow had crept in front of her.
"Oh, a beautiful woman." said the shadow.
